Four swords

Posted by Jan Kirk on November 16, 2018 in
Minor Arcana, Swords

4 Swords

The card: A man is lying on what appears to be a sarcophagus or coffin. He is comfortable enough with a pillow under his head. He is holding his hands together. Above him is the colourful window of a church or sacred building. One sword is decorating his the coffin, three others are hanging on the wall of the building.

Interpretation: It seems to be the time for retreat and gathering of energies. There is tension on the man's face and he is holding his hands together, as if trying to still his mind and relax after some kind of ordeal. The colourful glass of the church window promises light and life if he chooses to enter inside. But for now he chooses to handle the affairs of his inner peace on his own.

Prediction: Hold the reins for a while, now is not the time to charge ahead, it's time to recharge your batteries. A period may come or be, where you will have to be economical with your energies. When you are ready you may choose to enter a group which can nurture your faith and life.

Keywords: Retreat, restoration of energy, solitude, meditation.
