9 Pentacles

The Card: A young man enrobed in yellow and red are standing with a trained bird on his hand. Behind him is a field with grapes where nine pentacles are hanging. In the horizon are mountains, 2 trees and a house or village. The sky is yellow.

Interpretation: Abundance is present in this picture. The young man looks noble in his dressing and attitude, also his trained bird points in that direction. Furthermore the grapes are ready for harvest, hanging in big ripe bunches.

Everything is available and possible, both spiritually and materially. However, right now, the bird signifying spirit and freedom has been tamed and deprived of vision. For full universality to be achieved, the bird must be set free. With control, consciousness and spiritual liberation will not happen.

It is said, every domesticated animal reflects the traits of it's master. In this case the birds controlled vision show us the young man's choice of taking a certain route, thereby cutting off other options.

Prediction: Everything will be achieved during the time in question, but at the cost of true fulfilment – perhaps. It depends – is there willingness to let go, to set free. Some things are not meant to be harnessed. Has the inner truth been honoured ?

8 Pentacles

The Card: A male sculptor is making pentacles with hammer and chisel, sitting on a bench. Six of them are hanging, one is on the ground, and one is being worked on. In the background a town is seen against a grey sky.

Interpretation: The man is at peace with his work. Man and material, man and matter are coming into union. He is creating his own fortune. Fortune being a word which can both mean money and future. For him the creation process is a means of meditation, spiritual fulfilment.

Behind him the town is seen, where he will return to after his days work.

Prediction: Its time to adopt the 'right' way of working, or BEing altogether. In this way the work is not resisted, even if it seems mundane. Any work is fulfilling both spiritually and physically, its only my attitude towards it which matters.

Keywords: Equilibrium between being and doing, fulfilment, simplicity, absence of needs.

7 Pentacles

The Card: A young commonly dressed man is resting his hands on a gardening tool while watching the green vine. The vine is adorned with 7 pentacles. Behind him is a grey sky and an earth coloured landscape.

Interpretation: Our man looks tired, leaning on the tool. His expression has some sadness, or at least absence of joy. Perhaps wondering if his labour will bear fruit, will the efforts be rewarded. And what about the spiritual side of his life, is working really the only thing there is ?. His eyes seem to gaze beyond the plants into infinity, a longing for more purpose. He is working with the soil and yet not grounded and at peace. There is something to find.

Prediction: This is the time where results have not yet shown, valiancy is needed. To harvest the spiritual fruit, or in other form, some taxing mundane 'work' may appear. Fruits come in many forms.

Keywords: Pause, labour, longing, need for clarity, contemplation.

6 Pentacles

The Card: A man is standing with a scale, handing out bits to two beggars at his feet. His boots have the same mustard colour as one beggars cape. His shirt has the same light blue colour as the other beggars cape. Against a grey sky 6 pentacles are seen.

Interpretation: I can ask myself, who am I in this picture, a giver or a receiver, the noble or one of the begars ?. Also consider: Having the chance to give includes a blessing. Having the chance to receive includes a surrender.

What are you weighing here ? The balance between giving and receiving, or if you are giving the same amount of love or food to everyone ?.

In terms of spirituality or life, the cycle of growth can only continue if there is harmony. The Noble here has lived through the experience of the beggars, knowing that giving too much would break their roles.

Prediction: A period is coming where you will find the value in being either a humble receiver or a just giver. Experience on a deep level that giving is receiving and vice versa. Introspect, do I still need to learn one or the other.

5 Pentacles

The Card: Two people in rags are passing a building with a mosaic window containing 5 pentacles. The window is lit from within, it's night and snow is falling. The man is using crutches, looking up at the window as he walks. Where as the woman looks down.

Interpretation: Our two homeless people or beggars are out in the cold snow, while the inside of the building is promising light and warmth. The man is aware that there might lie an opportunity there, but the woman looks like she has accepted a fate. Both of them are going through hardship and difficulties, but do they have to ? The light from the window is inviting them inside, to embrace the power which is theirs, but they have forgotten.

Not only are we operating with pentacles here, there are also 5 of them, a significance. The pentacle can be seen a the four elements, plus a fifth which is spirit. The four elements which is needed for creation is there, along with the spirit of the creator. The creator can also be one of our two friends here. But the step has to be taken.

Prediction: There is hardship on the way, being cast out into the cold. I might be considered an outsider or unworthy, either by myself or others ! But the problems and disconnection is my own doing, by believing in the necessity of hard times. Or perhaps by not believing at all.

Keywords: Difficulty, being cast out, longing for the light, acceptance of fate, the spirit is always there.
